Flame Kabob
A Restaurant's Website
UX/UI Redesign
Discover
The website of Flame Kabob restaurant mostly has visual and aesthetic issues. Based on the research and studies done by the team in regards to UX aspects of the website, most of the items were acceptable. Most of the issues that needed to be changed were in regards to the interface. So, after doing some research and Heuristic Evaluation through a survey and interview with different users, we decided to put more time and effort on the UI design of this website in order to make a more simple, user-friendly and eye-catching website.
Define
The previous website: (https://www.flamekabob.com/)
Problems:
1. The issues related to the Aesthetic and minimalist design:
-
The background should have a simpler design like a one-color background since we are going to put food pictures throughout the page
-
There are two red/black lines on the home page which are of no use and should be removed
-
The website has no consistency in font
-
The logo had some aesthetic issues
-
The color scheme did not match with the new redesigned logo
-
The pictures were very low-quality
-
Social media icons are too big
-
The quote of “All of our meats are Zabiha Halal” is in improper place
-
The address and working hours should not be at the bottom of the page
2. Consistency and standards' issues:
-
Nav bar was designed in a wrong place
-
The color of content of Nav bar in active is in yellow color and the website has used the same yellow color for the menu categories which is not clickable and confuses users that is not desired and should be addressed in the correct design
Solutions:
1. Redesigning the Interface of the website.
-
Choose one or two fonts for consistency
-
The color scheme should be changed based on the redesigned logo
-
The photos should be replaced with high-quality ones
-
Nav bar should be on top of all contents
2. Checking that all the sections are correct and in a more familiar location for the users. And for the Zabiha Halal note, it’s better if we mention it in the menu or use a Halal logo

Usability Test
Before submitting the final delivered task, we performed a usability test with 5 users in order to find the problems of our design and prototype. In this part, the users were asked to do a task (order a Flame Sampler Combo to pick up). While they were doing this task, all of their behaviors and comments were observed and recorded. By asking our users to perform different tasks, we could find out the main problems of the website's design that most of our users could recognize.
